Meet Mark Brasher, a friend and volunteer at His Way Atlanta! Mark has been a Physician Recruiter for Cross Country Locums for 33 years. He and his wife Pam are originally from Louisiana (Mark from Lake Charles and Pam from Shreveport) and are huge LSU fans. They have 3 adult children: Allie, Cameron, and Jon Mark.
Mark says his most unusual job was selling books door-to-door for 4 summers in college, and he’s a proud alumnus of Harding University. In his spare time, he loves traveling, fishing, being at the lake/ocean, singing, and playing his guitar! Mark has been a member at East Cobb Church of Christ for 2 years.
How Mark Got Involved at His Way Atlanta
Mark has known John Neiland, Herb Dowdy, and Mike Prather for many years. He told us, “I was glad to get involved with them because I know their heart and love for people.”
As part of his initial interest in getting involved at His Way, Mark traveled to Huntsville and learned about the His Way program there. He liked what they were doing in Huntsville and wanted to be part of the Atlanta ministry.
Mark recruits and manages the volunteers for His Way. He said, “There are many needs for volunteers for work days, fundraising, celebrations, food preparation, etc. We depend on volunteers to help us with all of this.”
How His Way Is Different
When we asked Mark to tell us why His Way is different from other organizations, he said:
His Way is dedicated to helping people develop a relationship with Jesus Christ and their fellows in the program.
His Way is committed to mentoring men to live lives of service and commitment to God. We are working to encourage everyone who enters the program to know Jesus better for having been at His Way. Grace and forgiveness are emphasized. Building men’s character and integrity are essential for long-term recovery.
Mark says the most encouraging thing is to see residents graduating from the program, families being reunited, and men re-entering the workforce.
This is Mark’s advice to anyone struggling with addiction: “Call Jeremy Mitchell or one of the people associated with His Way and have a conversation. It could be the start of something wonderful.” You can also message them through the website here!
“We are all in recovery from sin.”
Mark wanted to end with these encouraging words: “His Way is committed to sharing Jesus. The program teaches discipline and responsibility to those of us who may have lost our way. It is rewarding and enriching to see lives changed through God’s grace. His Way is committed to living a life of recovery, and we are all in recovery from sin.”
Thank you, Mark, for your faithful dedication to the His Way Atlanta ministry and to our volunteers! You are so integral to our mission!
