Addiction was the most horrifying thing in the world for Seth Bond.
From the age of 16, he found himself in a relentless cycle, constantly chasing drugs and alcohol. Even when he had what he craved, the fear of running out consumed him. Over time, addiction took away everything he valued—his dignity, self-respect, and self-worth. Desperation drove him to do anything to curb the pain, leading to a life filled with lies, cheating, and stealing.
“I’ve had two times in my life where I really bottomed out and both of the times were when I started to use methamphetamine,” Seth recalled. “I was a functioning addict for a long time up until I was about 35 years old, and I became an alcoholic.”
His addiction pushed his family away again. Isolated and alone, Seth realized he had created his own personal hell.
But then, Seth found His Way, a Christ-centered recovery program that would transform his life in ways he never imagined.
Welcomed Home
From the moment Seth arrived at His Way, he felt something different. “The first thing you hear is ‘Welcome home,’” Seth recalled.
Strangers hugged him and asked if he needed anything. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and acceptance, something Seth hadn’t felt in years.
His Way’s Resident Director Darryl Floyd has been a constant source of encouragement during Seth’s journey. “Darryl is like the egg in meatloaf,” Seth says, reflecting on how Daryl held everything together. His positive influence was undeniable, and his example inspired everyone around him.
“When people want good things for you, you start to want that for yourself,” Seth explained.
Seeing others succeed in their recovery gave him hope that he, too, could overcome his addiction.
A New Family
At His Way, Seth found more than just a recovery program—he found a new family. “I pretty much lost my family,” Seth shared, “so to be able to come here and have guys that care about you really is such a family environment.”
The bonds formed within the His Way community were strong. Seth said this sense of brotherhood was key to his healing. The support, accountability, and encouragement he received helped him rediscover who he was, not as an addict, but as a sober person. For years, Seth had been lost in his addiction, unsure of his identity. But at His Way, he was given the space to learn who he truly was, and more importantly, who he could become.

Everything at His Way is geared toward one goal: restoring men like Seth to a productive, Christ-like service in society.
Today, Seth is the AM Campus Leader helping men like himself find hope and healing. His story is one of transformation. Seth is no longer defined by his past, but by the strength and resilience he has developed through recovery.
