Recovery is a journey best not taken alone. While family, friends, and professional counselors are important sources of support, one of the most impactful sources of encouragement comes from churches and the people in the church. Through financial contributions and providing a welcoming space and loving volunteers, churches offer our residents the love, encouragement, and resources needed to rebuild their lives.
Community
Churches give His Way residents a community of believers who offer emotional, spiritual, and practical support. Healthy relationships with fellow believers remind people in recovery that you are not forgotten, you are not defined by your past mistakes, and you are not alone in your struggles.
Churches are a place where people can encounter God through worship, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. For people in recovery, connecting with God’s Word and fellow believers can lead to deeper spiritual renewal and growth.
Our church partners create a sense of community when they love on residents through special events, whether it be providing warm, homecooked meals, hosting special holiday parties, or simply spending time with the men in our program. These moments remind those in our program that they are valued and cared for.

Accountability
Church members play a big role at His Way in providing mentoring, discipleship, and accountability partners. Whether through small groups, one-on-one discipleship, or group meetings, when people in recovery are part of a church family, they have the opportunity to check in regularly with trusted mentors or fellow believers who can help them stay on track.
Accountability in the church isn’t just about monitoring behavior. It’s about offering a space for prayer, encouragement, and support as people work through the challenges of recovery.
Opportunities to Serve
As people in recovery begin to rebuild their lives, they often struggle with finding a sense of purpose and meaning. The church provides an opportunity for people to find purpose through service to others. Serving others is a key element in recovery, as it helps people shift focus from their struggles to the needs of those around them.
Being involved in ministry or volunteer opportunities within the church can help those in recovery feel a sense of belonging and purpose, knowing that they are contributing to something bigger than themselves.

We rely on the financial support of churches and church members to help sustain and grow our program. Your financial support helps cover the daily costs of housing, maintenance, utilities, supplies, transportation, medical care, counseling and more to the men in our program.
